Seed Exchange

Saturday,
February 15, 2025

Davis Bay Hall
11:00 - 3:00 pm

You don't need to have seeds to exchange, the SCSSC are offering our locally grown seeds by donation.
If you feel inspired, we welcome you to consider saving seed from one of the seeds that you bring home with you! We have a lot of knowledgeable seed savers in the collective who can answer your questions on how to grow true to seed.

Activities & Workshops:

11am : Opening blessing with Denise Legasse (SCSSC) and Song circle by Diane Baker of Odonata Song Circle!

11:15- 12:15 Soil Food Web Talk with Jesse & Mel of Many Microbes

Gather with fellow growers to explore soil's microbial networks and share regenerative techniques—like compost teas and mulching—for thriving home and community gardens.

1pm : Seed Cleaning Demo by Grace Lewis (SCSSC) & tour of the Davis Bay Elementary School Greenhouse, with Grace and students

More details on the workshops!

Cultivating Connections: The Soil Food Web & Community-Growing Resilience

Join Jesse & Mel of Many Microbes Soil Lab for a collaborative exploration of soil’s hidden communities. Participants will engage in an interactive discussion about the vital relationships between microbial life, plants, and ecological harmony, followed by sharing practical techniques to nourish soil health—from compost teas to mulching strategies. Designed for growers of all skill levels, this circle-based session invites collective knowledge exchange alongside actionable takeaways to apply in home gardens and community plots.

Success Looks Like:

A diverse group of growers leaving with deepened understanding of soil ecosystems, peer-driven insights, and a starter resource (e.g., seed-safe compost blend or soil health zine) to bridge learning into practice.
